Tamannaah Salim Akhtar Legal Wrangle

Tamannaah-Salim Akhtar legal wrangle continues as late as last month after coming to light a couple of months back.

Producer Akhtar has moved the Kolkata High Court against the actress for dishonouring a contract she signed with him in 2003, when she had got a break in Bollywood with his film, Chand Sa Roshan Chehra.

Akhtar says that according to the terms of contract, the actress was to share 25 per cent of her earnings with the producer over the next five years. He alleges she never did. Following this, he registered a complaint with the Association of Motion Picture and Television Programme Producers (AMPTPP) after waiting five years for her to honour her commitment.

The only response the association received was her lawyer asking for a copy of the contract. Another reminder was sent last month asking her to revert with a statement of earnings in the last five years.

Industry pundits says actors signing such contracts with productions houses have honoured their contracts and the actress will be expected to do the same. Her father Santosh Bhatia refutes the charges against his daughter.

He said, "The case against us is completely bogus. There was no contract signed by my daughter. Whatever Salim Akhtar is claiming at the most could be a civil suit and he has filed a criminal case against my daughter who was a minor when she signed her first film.''
